Yuchai Engine has partnered with the international brand Bobcat to develop the new PG340W generator set for the Middle East and African markets

2026-01-15

Bobcat has launched a full range of generator sets for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) market. The range reportedly includes more than 20 models, with rated power spanning from 20 to 1650 kVA.

Designed specifically for and locally manufactured in the Middle East and Africa, these new generator sets feature high airflow and robust components, delivering enhanced heat resistance and lower total cost of ownership. According to Bobcat, competition in the MEA market is growing increasingly intense, and these design improvements make the equipment more reliable to suit regional operating requirements. In addition, local manufacturing in the Middle East enables shorter delivery lead times, as well as reduced transportation costs and customs duties.

Furthermore, as the generator sets are manufactured locally in the Middle East, they not only feature shorter delivery lead times but also reduce transportation costs and customs duty expenses.

Matus Gejdos, Portable Power Product Manager for Bobcat Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), stated: “The most popular power segments for generator sets in the Middle East and Africa market are 100, 200, 500 and 1000 kVA, and our new range now fully covers these mainstream ratings. The units have undergone extensive testing of thousands of hours in Middle Eastern environments with highly successful results — they operate reliably under varying load conditions at high temperatures above 40°C, fully validating their durability.”

Bobcat’s new generator set series serves a wide range of industries, including construction, agriculture, equipment rental, telecommunications, and residential backup power.

The entry-level models in the series include the PG20W, PG30W, PG50W, PG60W, PG110W and PG165W (the numbers in the model designations represent the output power in kVA). Powered by Yanmar or Volvo engines, these units feature low maintenance costs and low noise levels. The mid-range models consist of the PG220W and PG340W, while the PG590W, PG710W and PG820W are high-power units. Selected models are equipped with HD Infracore engines, which have been on the market for approximately 10 years with well-proven reliability.

New additions to the series are powered by Yuchai, one of China’s leading engine OEMs, targeting the high-power market with output capabilities of up to 1650 kVA.
