Baker Hughes to Supply Liquefaction Equipment for Commonwealth LNG Export Project
2026-01-28
On December 22, 2025, Baker Hughes announced that it had received a Full Notice To Proceed from Technip Energies on behalf of Commonwealth LNG. The company will supply the main liquefaction equipment for the 9.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) Commonwealth LNG export project, which is under construction in Cameron, Louisiana.
The award covers six refrigerant turbocompressor trains, each consisting of an LM9000 aeroderivative gas turbine paired with a centrifugal compressor. It will leverage Baker Hughes’ proven and industry-leading technological capabilities in the LNG sector to support Technip Energies and Commonwealth LNG. Backed by long-standing collaboration between Baker Hughes and both companies, the successful execution of the project will ensure the efficient delivery of Commonwealth LNG’s state-of-the-art export facility to meet the growing global demand for reliable, low-carbon LNG.
The LM9000 is the most efficient gas turbine in its power class (70+ MW), with an efficiency exceeding 44% under ISO conditions. Its long Mean Time Between Maintenance (MTBM) and compact design simplify maintenance, extend service intervals, improve availability, and accelerate installation and start-up. The scope of the contract also includes commissioning services, spare parts, extended warranty, and packaged string testing for the full equipment set.
